WHAT'S
SO SPECIAL ABOUT THIS CONTEST?
QUALITY
JUDGES
All
judges are well known screenwriting instructors and/or Hollywood
industry professionals. Not too many screenwriting competitions
have judges the stature of Lew Hunter (Emeritus Chair
of the UCLA Screenwriting Program, arguably the best in the world)
and other excellent judges.
EXPOSURE
PRIZES
Screenwriters
want to win contests not only to get cash and/or product prizes,
but to get noticed by Hollywood so their script will be bought or
optioned. Applause winners are promoted in several ways. The first,
second, and third place winners will all have their scripts sent
to production companies, managers, and agents.
Plus
winners get to have lunch with Hollywood industry execs courtesy
of Lets-Do-Lunch; get
query editing and e-query submission services, a listing in Script
Marketplace and the Hollywood Bugle from So
You Wanna Sell a Script; have a logline listing in Players Marketplace,
e-mail to 6,500 industry pros with loglines and contact info, plus
script placement on InkTip.com.
These
are additional opportunities to get noticed by Hollywood. These
kinds of personal contacts are what really make deals happen!

I'm
so impressed at the immediate reaction of quality
contacts upon announcement of the results that I'd like to
encourage others to enter your contest. Usually, names just
go up on a website or out through a press release, and that's it.
Simply put: you deliver.
Barbara Gaillard, 2002 Finalist
